Female, 24 – shin splints, myofascial tension, stress

Eighteen years of competitive basketball, soccer, and tennis has left my legs, lower back, and hip flexors perpetually tight. Daily interval training has given me painful and persistent shin splints. Long hours in front of the computer have my neck in knots.

I’ve been to many different massage therapists over the years for deep tissue, and most just can’t seem to press hard enough or in the right places. Brad adeptly finds all the tension areas in his shiatsu massage, and it feels amazing. His acupuncture is also extremely relaxing – I tend to fall asleep.

He is clearly very knowledgeable about many different fields of medicine, health and wellness. More than that, he is a great listener and asks thoughtful questions, so he can get to the root of the problem. His kind and thoughtful demeanor puts his clients at ease, preparing them for the two hours of relaxation to come. I leave feeling totally rejuvenated everytime.

As a law student, financials are very tight. Brad was willing to work with my limited budget. He truly is top-notch, and cares about his patients.

Male, 36 – back pain

I sustained a significant back injury in 2010 while weight-lifting.  The injury progressively worsened over the next year despite medical treatment.  I would wake up in pain every morning and I finally stopped exercising altogether.  It just hurt too badly.  I sought medical help.  One doctor suggested back surgery and the other prescribed a regime of pain medication.  I’m 36 years old – both options would have been life altering.  A spinal fusion would have prevented me from ever lifting weights again and I knew I couldn’t work effectively if perpetually drugged.  I scheduled sessions with Brad Thompson.  Brad utilized a combination of acupuncture, shiatsu, and Chinese herbal medicine to alleviate the pain.  The relief came quickly.  I left each session feeling progressively better.  Over time, his work resolved my injury altogether.  Before seeing Brad, I had resigned myself to only ever walking for exercise.  I’ve returned to lifting heavy free weights and I just ran my first marathon this fall in Portland.  I don’t think about the injury any longer – Brad made it possible for me to move past it entirely.

To say Brad is a talented healer is an understatement.  I fully recommend him to anyone who is experiencing pain or who has been injured.  He is, quite simply, exceptional.

Male, 35 – sports medicine

I’ve been surfing with Brad for more than 20 years and began receiving treatments from him in 1998.  As a coastal Washington home builder and avid surfer, I’ve experienced my fair share of orthopedic injuries over the years.  Surfing 200 to 300 days a year in cold water is very physically challenging and the acupuncture and shiatsu treatments I’ve done with Brad have helped me minimize the detrimental effects of long hours of water time.  When injuries have occurred, I’ve been able to recover and rehab quickly and more completely with his help.  I’ve also benefited proactively from the nutrition and kinesiology coaching that Brad has done with me.  The stretching, strengthening, and dietary advice he has shared over the years has helped me to remain fit, strong, and ready to paddle.
